5 Scholarships for International Internships [Deadline Passed]

The Intern Group is pleased to announce 5 scholarship opportunities for young people seeking a professional experience abroad. Scholarships will cover program expenses for a life-changing international internship in London, Hong Kong, Colombia, Melbourne or Madrid. These scholarships are available for both US and non-US citizens.

Scholarships for 2016

There are 5 scholarships available in 2016 for ambitious, young professionals looking to earn real-world experience abroad and boost their career. These scholarships are worth between US$4,000 and US$9,000. The deadline to apply for all scholarships is Monday, April 18th, 2016.

Need-Based Scholarships for 2016

 

Deadline: April 18th

This year, The Intern Group will be awarding need-based scholarships for their award-winning international internship programs to four exceptional students that demonstrate the need for financial aid. The Intern Group will provide you with a professional internship placement in the career field of your choice, quality accommodation and full transport and visa costs. This scholarship is available for placements in London, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Madrid and Colombia. Living costs are not covered in the internship destination.

 

Eligibility requirements:

  • An impressive track record: work experience and great academic results.
  • Passion for the opportunity: the more shares and likes that your application video receives, the better chance you have of gaining the scholarship.
  • Must be willing to share your experience via regular blogs, vlogs and social media updates.
  • Must be a full-time undergraduate student.
  • African-American, Asian, Hispanic, Multi-racial/ethnic, Indigenous/Native-American and other ethnic-minority students, first-generation college undergraduates and students with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • You must show clear financial need for the scholarship: this could include receiving need-based financial support from your home university, the Pell Grant or other financial support schemes.

 

Women’s Empowerment Scholarship for 2016

The Intern Group will also be awarding one scholarship for their award-winning international internship program to one exceptional female student from a developing country (non-OECD). If you are awarded the scholarship, you will be provided with a professional internship placement in the career field of your choice and quality accommodation. Your living, transport and visa costs will also be paid for by The Intern Group as a part of the scholarship.** This scholarship is available for placements in London, Hong Kong and Madrid.

**Note: You will be provided with a fixed amount of money per month to contribute towards your living costs while you’re in your internship destination.

 

Eligibility requirements:

  • An impressive track record: work experience and great academic results.
  • Passion for the opportunity: the more shares and likes that your application video receives, the better chance you have of gaining the scholarship.
  • Must be willing to share your experience via regular blogs, vlogs and social media updates.
  • For the purpose of developing Women’s career opportunities in developing countries, where access is sometimes limited, only women can apply for the Women’s Empowerment Scholarship.
  • You must be a citizen of a developing country (non-OECD countries) who is attending university in a developing country (non-OECD).
  • You must show clear financial need for the scholarship: This could include receiving need-based financial support from your home university or other financial support schemes.

How to apply:

  • Fill in the online application form by uploading the following:
    • Your CV/resume
    • Proof of your financial need
    • Upload a short video (max. 1 minute) to YouTube which answers the question: “Why should we pick you to receive a scholarship to do an international internship in 2016?” The video must be entitled ‘The Intern Group Scholarship 2016 – Your name’, and must include the hashtag ‘#TIGScholarship2016’.
  • Share your application video on social media including the hashtags #TheInternGroup and #TIGScholarships2016 and a link to our website (www.theinterngroup.com)
  • Encourage your friends to like and share your post – the more likes and shares that you receive, the better!

 

The 2015 Scholarship Winner

During his senior year at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey, Luis R. Sosa Santiago won The Intern Group’s 2015 Scholarship that covered the cost of a 6-week International Business Internship in Medellín, Colombia. Sosa’s internship provided him with real-world work experience to supplement his degrees in Diplomacy and International Relations and Latin American studies. Sosa is one step closer to his goal of working in Corporate Social Responsibility in Latin America thanks to his internship in Colombia.
