Today on GoAbroad we’re excited to welcome International Education Week! While we think that it’s important to celebrate international education EVERY week, this week of November marks an occasion held in the United States by the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education where the benefits of international education and global exchange are promoted across the nation!

Have you ever considered how international education has made a difference in your life? Whether you’ve studied abroad, volunteered abroad or had any other kind of meaningful travel experience abroad, international education helps to transform students into more active and engaged participants in an interconnected world.

This celebratory week takes the idea of educational travel and gives it an even more meaningful purpose–where every individual can make a difference. Wherever you choose to go, and however you choose to travel there, there are so many opportunities out there waiting for YOU to take hold of them.

As a way of showing appreciation and getting more involved in international education, whether or not you’re traveling abroad, the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education have compiled a variety of ways for you to be a part of this very special week! Over the course of these days (Nov. 14-18, 2011), you have the chance to let your voice be heard while fostering mutual understanding and respect.
