If you’ve logged into your GoAbroad listing recently, you may have noticed your ratings look a little different. Here’s what happened and why it matters for your programs.
We’ve updated our review system from a 10-star scale to a 5-star scale.
That’s the short version. Here’s the full picture.

Why we made the switch
The 10-star system served us well for a long time, but the honest truth is that most people think in fives. It’s the standard across Google, Trustpilot, TripAdvisor, and nearly every review platform travelers already use. When someone sees a 4.8, they instinctively know that’s excellent. When they see a 9.6, they have to do a quick mental conversion first.
That friction, small as it seems, creates unnecessary doubt. We want your programs to be understood at a glance, and the 5-star scale does that better.
What actually changed
Your ratings were converted consistently across the platform. A 9.6/10 is now a 4.8/5. A 9.0/10 is now a 4.5/5. The math is straightforward, and no review was edited, removed, or re-weighted in the process.
The feedback travelers left for your programs is still exactly what it was. Same words, same scores, same honest responses from real participants. We just translated the number into a format that reads more naturally.
What didn’t change
Everything that makes GoAbroad reviews trustworthy, including verified participants, authentic feedback, and full transparency on your listing page, is unchanged. Your review count is the same. Your written testimonials are the same. The trust your programs have built over years of collecting honest reviews is fully intact.
What this means for your programs
If you use your GoAbroad rating in your own marketing materials (website, brochures, social media), now is a good time to update those to reflect the new 5-star format. Your rating itself hasn’t dropped. It’s just expressed differently.
If you have any questions about your specific listing or want to double-check how your scores were converted, reach out to your GoAbroad account contact and we’ll walk you through it.
