Resources for Supporting Diversity & Combating Injustice

The GoAbroad Team stands in solidarity with everyone affected by racial violence and systemic racism, and we recognize that we must do more to educate ourselves and our community on anti-racism and allyship. We all need to commit to supporting the movement for racial justice, not only today or this year, but always.

In the last month there have been some truly inspiring messages of support and hope. Organizations have shared great resources in an effort to propel everyone toward improving their personal and organizational actions to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion.

We want to share some of the best resources we’ve found to help organizations continue to propel this effort (see below).

GoAbroad exists to change lives through meaningful travel, one destination and one experience at a time. We believe that travel is the key to individuals attaining a broader perspective of the world, and that the world is a better place when people have a deeper understanding and greater empathy toward all individuals and cultures.

In line with our mission, we will continue to work tirelessly to create resources and share international travel opportunities, because we believe anyone should be able to find their own way to see the world and broaden their perspectives. Together we will commit to ongoing education around anti-racism. Together we will elevate BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) voices. Together we will respond and take action.

Share Your Story

GoAbroad.com is committed to actively amplifying voices of travelers who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). We want to utilize our platform and reach, so that BIPOC students and travelers feel heard, seen, and empowered.

Our goal is to encourage a wider variety of individuals to see the world, challenge norms, and diversify the traditional travel narrative, as well as educate travelers and students on how to become better allies.

If you are a traveler who identifies as BIPOC or as a member of an underrepresented group, and you are willing to share your perspectives and experiences in international education and meaningful travel (i.e. studying, volunteering, teaching, etc. abroad), we’d love to hear from you. Feel free to invite others too!

Diversity Abroad’s AIDE Roadmap

It is important that we do more than speak out, but implement and inspire tangible actions and changes to combat systemic issues.

As described on Diversity Abroad’s website, “Diversity Abroad, in collaboration with experts in the fields of international education, diversity and inclusion, and student affairs, has developed the second edition of the Access, Inclusion, Diversity & Equity (AIDE) Roadmap. The Roadmap includes a set of guidelines and a comprehensive assessment tool for education abroad offices and now for organizations who administer education abroad programming. Adherence to the guidelines support international education offices and organizations as they develop or enhance inclusive policies and practices that support the success of students throughout the education abroad process. Connected to the AIDE Guidelines is the Global Equity & Inclusion Assessment, an intensive self-assessment designed for education abroad offices and international education organizations that examines the diversity and inclusion policies and practices within the education abroad unit or organization.”
